The Titanic Hotel is one of my favourite venues in Liverpool right now. I just loved being the Titanic Hotel Wedding Photographer for Emma & Chris, such an amazing Liverpool Bride & Groom. The Titanic has everything you would want in a venue – Great staff, a historic location, loads of opportunities for stunning couple portraits of the bride and groom, amazing bedrooms (with the coolest lamps which place the most wicked shadows on the wall), and a massive room for the wedding breakfast. And if that isn’t enough for you – how about an exact replica of the staircase from the ill-fated Titanic ship! Titanic Liverpool is on my Top Wedding Venues in Liverpool shortlist! Titanic Hotel Liverpool – Historic Liverpool Wedding Venue
The Titanic hotel makes up part of the Stanley dock in what was once one of the most famous ports in the world – Liverpool. Liverpool really was one of the most important docks when Britain was an Empire, and it is fantastic that most of the docklands are now being re-developed for people to enjoy an area that was once the lifeblood of the city. The Titanic hotel was once a Tobacco warehouse and was called The North Warehouse. Building started in 1846 and was finished in 1854. Part of the building was bombed during WW2. The Rum Warehouse was built in the 1950s. The main reception room has an exact replica of the staircase leading to the ballroom in the infamous Titanic ship. The Rum Warehouse can hold up to 500 guests so for brides who have a lot of guests to invite this could be your ideal venue! The buildings are also stunning examples of the amazing historic buildings we have here in Liverpool. Photographing the Bridal Preparations
I had been looking forward to taking Emma & Chris’s Titanic wedding photographs for quite some time. It had been a while since I photographed at the Titanic and I was looking forward to going back. Emma had three cute flower girls to help her throughout the day and they looked so beautiful with their flower hair garlands. I love taking photos of the kids during a wedding they never cease to surprise and amuse. They do the most unusual and funny things, like wear the mother of the bride’s hat and they are brilliant at showing up the adults on the dance floor just before the first dance! You could certainly feel the excitement at Emma’s parent’s house as the girls were getting ready. Emma had a lot of bridesmaids so the make-up artist and hairdresser certainly had their work cut out for them!
A beautiful church Ceremony
As I got to the church the atmosphere was buzzing too. The groom Chris was looking dapper in his suit and was as cool as an ice cube! This was definitely going to be a great wedding day. Because I use prime lenses on my camera I never need to use flash, which helps me to get great unposed images of the day’s events. Most of the time my clients are not even aware they are being photographed. It was important for Emma & Chris and their families to have a church wedding, it was a beautiful wedding ceremony and there was a great atmosphere as the bride & groom spoke their wedding vows.
Titanic Hotel For the Drinks Reception
Back to the amazing Titanic hotel for drinks and and the guests were treated to a ride on a cool red London bus.
The replica staircase from the Titanic ship looks amazing in the reception room of the hotel and makes a great backdrop for the formal photographs.
Amazing Speeches
The speeches were brilliant too, and Chris’s heartfelt speech elicited lots of tears from the guests. By blending in and not using camera flash I managed to capture a few of the guests and Emma’s sister wiping away a tear! These are important moments in a wedding and I want to capture as much of the emotion as I can throughout the wedding day.
The best man’s speech was rocking and he had some particularly juicy stories about Chris to share with the room. There were a few flushed cheeks moments for the groom!
Emma & Chris hired singing waiters and they certainly worked their magic and had the whole room up dancing with a bit of napkin swinging thrown in!
I love the corridors in the Titanic, the downlights look amazing and the corridor is very long giving a very dramatic look.
We had the most beautiful sunset and as we headed to Emma & Chris’s room we witnessed the most amazing golden light streaming down the hallway from the sunset.
The wedding cake cutting provided a good laugh as Emma nearly choked poor Chris as she fed him some of the cake!
Love these shots of the first dance, it’s great when you get the couple sharing the moment as they gaze into each others eyes. I have used a remote flash in the background to create a great rim light. I love to capture the flash in the images as it looks really cool as a starlight. For the photographers out there I am at F9 or F11 aperture which creates a starburst effect on the flash.
A Huge Congratulations to a Fabulous Couple
It was such a joy to photograph Emma & Chris’s wedding at The Titanic Hotel Liverpool. There are so many amazing parts of the venue to show in the photographs. The staircase is such a cool touch. The Titanic is a stunning backdrop to feature in your wedding photographs. I always look forward to shooting at the venue, so if you have a wedding at the Titanic I would love to hear from you!
